Here’s my view: India should never have had the lockdown – none whatsoever – ever.
Why?
Because Cure can’t be worse than the Disease.
Where Lockdown Works & Where it Doesn’t?
A lockdown will work perfectly in a
Highly advanced, high-income, highly rule-following country & particular a rich & low-population country –
A lockdown will always flop in an
Underdeveloped & over-populated, rule-breaker country – and we, India, fall in the category where Lockdown will fail.
Lockdown’s Side Effects:
Domestic Violence, Depression, UnHealthy Habits [We’ve all seen tons of people carrying what I call CoronaWeight around their Waists], Suicide [that’s just alternate way of dying – it’s like you survive a plane crash & a moment later get killed by a hungry bear as the plane in the jungle where Leonardo DiCaprio’s Oscar winning film – Revenant was shit]
Job Losses in one month – April 2020:
Total Employed in 2019: 404 million
Total Employed in March 2020: 396 [minus 8 million]
Total Employed in April 2020: 282 [minus 122 million]
Minus – 114 million – 1 in every 4 people lost their job –
Compare that to the impact that the Cov-19 had in that month – it’s chalk & cheese.

Most of these jobs lost were borne by poor people, who live as we say in India – Hand-to-Mouth. In simple terms, if these fuckers are unemployed for 1 to 4 weeks maximum, they move to the Red Zone: Starvation to Death.
Verdict: India Lockdown Saved Rich People
For me, it’s evident that Lockdown saved rich people & people rich enough people own a place to live & have enough savings to pay all their bills without running in a Hole.
Which for me defeats the purpose of the lockdown as rich people would anyway not gone out to risk their lives because they can afford to.
It’s a cruel joke to tell 100s of millions of people to Stay Home Stay Safe when either they don’t have a Home to Go To or Don’t have the money to pay for their Rented Home as because of the lockdown, they’ve lost their jobs.
More poor died & live in depressed or debt state now & will continue to live in terrible conditions for not just years but most likely for their whole lives.
